Fame in the food world came about when a family member of a Lee Valley woodworker discovered that a wood rasp would zest oranges. This quickly led to other uses such as zesting lemons, grating ginger and cinnamon, reducing a clove of garlic to near liquid, and slicing all kinds of nuts into thin slivers.
