Jan 6, 2022 · I ask this question as I was seriously considering getting an Xbox Series S for my ultrawide monitor in my studio, however, after reading up on it I discovered that it only displays in 16:9 aspect ratio. When displayed on an ultrawide monitor (21:9), it shows 2 black bars either side or stretches the image which is not ideal.

If your console is the newer Series X or S there won't be an optical out, however most monitors have a 3.mm audio jack in the rear of the display. You can either plug in headphones or buy some PC speakers.

Jan 12, 2021 · HDMI 1.4 monitors are capped at 75hz at 1440p, so it's best to set the S at 1080p HDMI 1.4 monitor that's capable of 120hz. Some games, like Warzone and MW 2019, will default to 4k60 HDR if you have "allow 4k" checked in the Xss's display settings and if your monitor / TV supports a 4k60 HDR signal.

Knowing that the Series X can support 60 and 120hz refresh rates up to 4K, I'm wondering why there's no support for 75hz. Dec 9, 2020 · My Xbox series S is connected through the hdmi cable with my iiyama 34" (3440x1440) ultrawide monitor. The problem is that I've read that the display would be trimmed to the 16:9 aspect ratio. At least for me, it isn't. The 2560x1440 picture, in the xbox menu, as in the games is stretched to fit the whole screen, which doesn't look or feel good.
