USS Missouri (BB-63) is an Iowa -class battleship built for the United States Navy (USN) in the 1940s and is a museum ship. Completed in 1944, she is the last battleship commissioned by the United States.

Missouri joined the fast battleships of TF 58 in bombarding the southeast coast of Okinawa 24 March an action intended to draw enemy strength from the west coast beaches that would be the actual site of invasion landings.

After the Tonkin gulf incident, the US started a bombardment of North Vietnam. This was the time that the US Navy decided to use the battleship again. Accordingly the USS Missouri,which was in moth balls wad got ready. The ship was serviced and fitted with all electronic gadgetry incuding ECM. The shp sailed for the North Vietnam coast.
