Jan 4, 2022 · The Nelson Environment Centre has been a part of the Nelson Tasman community since 1976 and is the oldest Environmental Centre in New Zealand. At a public meeting in December 1976, a group of locals came together and voted unanimously to support the establishment of the Environment Centre in Nelson.

Championing sustainability since the 70’s, the Nelson Environment Centre holds the mighty title of being NZ’s oldest environment center, benefiting the Nelson community with environmental and recycling services for almost half a century.

Previously known as the Nelson ReUse & Recycling Centre, we have since grown to become a well-known local facility and affordable Nelson op shop that keeps resources in circulation & out of landfill. Get Directions!
