Nags Head Ocean Rescue provides water rescue services from April through October. During the summer, Nags Head beaches are patrolled by lifeguards on all-terrain-vehicles as well as fixed stands at the improved beach accesses.

Nags Head’s Stormwater Management Program works to improve the collection, treatment, and transportation of stormwater runoff through publicly owned infrastructure while enhancing pollutant removal prior to discharging to receiving waters.

Nags Head’s curbside collection of bulk and brush is available from October through April each year. The last day to place bulk items at the curb will be April 30. This service is for homeowners and residents of improved lots.

Water Operations is responsible for monitoring the levels and pressures of water service in Nags Head. The division ensures adequate levels of water are provided to the town as well as compliance with state and federal regulations concerning water quality.

The Town of Nags Head allows residential Short-Term Rentals (also known as STR’s and often referred to by the name of popular hosting companies, such as Airbnb or VRBO) within every zoning district.
