May 17, 2010 · M16A1 has a very nice 250 meter battlesight zero that's hard to improve on. Barely higher than IBSZ at intermediate ranges. Dirt simple: Push the rear sight forward, so the L –– for long range –– shows, and zero the rifle at 25 meters. Done as soon as you flip the sight back to the unmarked (short range) sight. Confusion on IBSZ? Don't be.

Nov 29, 2010 · Note the XM16E1 & "early" M16A1 markings are the same w/the exception of XM16E1 being changed to M16A1, the "late" M16A1 marking which came into use approximately 1971-1972 at about serial 4,500,000-5,000,000 dropped the Colt & AR15 marking the Colt logo was also centered in the magwell vs set a bit to the front of the "early" A1 marking.

Jan 14, 2024 · As requested, here are pictures of my Two, 1969-1970 H&R M16A1 Rifles, both are NOS, Unfired condition, Untampered with condition, from the 1985 H&R Asset Reduction Sale when they were filling for Bankruptcy. These rifles never left H&R until this sale in 1985. Both rifles are listed on the H&R sales inventory list of 35 M16A1 rifles from 1985.

Oct 23, 2004 · The M16A1 barrel is 0.675" tapering down to 0.600" behind the front sight, 0.625" under the front sight, and 0.575" in front of the front sight. The M16A2 barrel is 0.675" tapering down to 0.630" behind the front sight, 0.730" under the front sight, and 0.715" in front of the front sight. For the HBAR, for the muzzle to one-inch down, it's 0.680".
