Nov 15, 2016 · It will take more energy to power an 8K tv because an 8K tv will have 33 million pixels to drive, vs 8.3 million on a 4K tv. Plus 8K tv's will need to be larger to enjoy the effects of true 8K. Upscaling 4K to 8k will never look as good as 4K displayed on a 4k tv. It's simple science. True 1:1 pixel mapping will always look better than upscaling.

As far as upscaling, it will never match native 1:1 pixel mapping. So 1080p will always look best on a 1080p tv. 4K will always look best on a 4K tv and 8k on an 8K tv.
