So we are pondering config backup to a local repository followed by a backup copy to remote site. That leaves us a local copy for easy access and also a second copy tucked away safely offsite. =====

Feb 23, 2023 · With Ver 11 and previous our standard strategy has been to run hourly backups to a 'Daytime' repo, a nightly 'Retention' Backup copy job which pulls from the 'Daytime' repo and saves to a separate local 'Retention' repo, and finally a nightly 'Offsite ' Backup copy job which pulls from the 'Retention' repo.

Then you don't have to use expensive cloud storage.

Apr 4, 2017 · Yes, backup copy runs in forever forward incremental backup mode, so oldest incremental will be merged into full backup while backup job will create a new incremental restore point (unless you are have GFS enabled in the backup copy retention - it changes the backup copy mode to forward incremental with periodic full backups).
