Gumboot Friday, founded by mental health advocate Mike King, is a free counselling service for any young person in New Zealand aged 25 and under. An overworked, underfunded, and under resourced public mental health service has led to excruciatingly long wait times for young people needing immediate help.

I Am Hope is a registered charity under I Am Hope Foundation founded by Mike King. I Am Hope aims to promote positive attitudinal societal change around mental health throughout New Zealand, offering hope and a voice to young people.

Michael King is a New Zealand mental health advocate, television personality, and former comedian. He spoke at a public meeting in Whitianga Bowling Club on Wednesday October 25.

May 16, 2023 · A spectacular evening of charity and art hosted by Turua Gallery and Babylon Store saw fifteen pieces of work sold raising just under $60,000 for Gumboot Friday and I Am Hope on Friday 12th May.
