May 18, 2018 · Time and chance happen to them all. Throughout Ecclesiastes we are told that time limits us. Our times are in God's hands. Here we are also told about chance. There appears to be a randomness about human existence. One does not get what one deserves and outcomes happen unexpectedly and suddenly. Death interrupts. Time and chance happen to all.

What that verse is saying is that nothing happens by our power; God does it all, “chance” meaning “fate” or “all things are determined from above.” Aesop’s fable of the tortoise and hare race are an example, but not a good one.

Mar 29, 2010 · The author of Ecclesiastes made a puzzling statement when he wrote that "time and chance happen to them all" (Ecclesiastes 9:11). Some interpret this to mean that, sometimes, bad things happen for no real reason.

Chance suggests total absence of design or predictability. It essentially leaves God out of the picture. While it does rain on the "just and the unjust," as Christ says in Matthew 5:45, and trials affect us all, it is not luck or chance that governs our lives.

Jan 1, 2012 · The other side of Koheleth’s observation, “Time and chance happen to them all,” is that even people who have mostly bad luck are bound sooner or later to have good luck. That is just the way reality operates.

Aug 21, 2023 · As a footnote to ‘time and chance’ that is mentioned here, it says, “time and chance happens to all men.” If something happens to Christ’s followers, God has allowed it. However, time and chance is not the same as the world sees time and chance.
