The Criterion Theatre was host to numerous premieres. After the World Premiere of “The Ten Commandments” on November 8, 1956, that movie was shown (with reserved seats) for 17 months. The US premiere in 70mm of “Lawrence of Arabia” was held on December 15, 1962.

Dec 9, 2023 · The American Cinematheque show their own prints of Laurence of Arabia and 2001. Then they also show 1-2 other 70mm prints through the weekend. Like other comments have said, the AC recently showed a bunch of 70mm films including Laurence of Arabia at their other theater The Egyptian.

Sept. 17, 1962 - Motion-picture admission prices will reach a high in December when “Lawrence of Arabia” opens at New York’s Criterion Theatre. Loge seats for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night performances will sell for $4.80, with $3.80 for orchestra reservations.
