Jan 2, 2025 · Work on the new northern interchange at Raymond Terrace is advancing quickly, bringing exciting developments to the Heatherbrae Bypass section of the project.
M1 Heatherbrae Bypass - Seymour Whyte
Seymour Whyte will deliver a five-kilometre northern Heatherbrae bypass section from Tomago to Raymond Terrace. The M1 extension is expected to be open to traffic in mid-2028. The northern Heatherbrae bypass package of work includes: Two bridges over the main carriageway at Masonite Road and the Raymond Terrace interchange.
The M1 Pacific Motorway extension would bypass the congestion and merge points along this corridor and is predicted to reduce tra˚c volumes across the existing network. The proposed extension would also reduce tra˚c volumes on the New England Highway which would improve tra˚c flow and access for motorists

Heatherbrae Bypass Package (Northern Package). The Hexham Straight Widening is also being funded through the same allocation as the M1 Extension and will see the six-kilometre section of the Pacific Highway between the Newcastle Inner City Bypass and the Hexham Bridge upgraded.
