Three beaches exist on the Leeward side. Two are available for use by base residents, while the third, Hicacal Beach, is closed. Nearby is the US Naval Cemetery at Guantanamo Bay, also known as Cuzco Wells Cemetery.

There are six accessible beaches on Windward and four on Leeward. A number of beaches including Cable and Windmill have firepits. A permit is required from the Fire Department for a bonfire. You can reserve firepits and adjacent cabanas from the MWR Marina. The loading docks at the NEX are a good source of wood pallets.
