Six deaths are attributed to Chantal, the tropical storm that made landfall in the Carolinas early Sunday morning and produced flooding and tornadoes.

Tropical Storm Chantal brought a handful of tornadoes to North Carolina on Sunday even as flooding also took a toll on communities. The National Weather Service estimates four tornadoes touched down in the state, meteorologist Dan Leins said.

As Chantal filled up creeks and rivers in the eastern Piedmont Triad, the storm also produced four EF-1 confirmed tornadoes. One touched down at the Raleigh Executive Jetport in Lee county where a couple of hangars and aircraft were damaged. Damage also confirmed to nearby mobile homes.
