The New York Times identified a series of missteps that made a Jeju Air flight’s catastrophic end much more deadly.

The air disaster in Tenerife still causes chills almost 50 years after it happened. On March 27th, 1977, two passenger Boeing 747 planes collided on the runway, killing a total of 583 people.

Service at the Santa Barbara Airport was restored at about 11:10 a.m., according to Christopher Hastert, the airport director.
