There are no plans for mass civilian evacuations from the city of Sumy, regional Governor Oleh Hryhorov said on June 8, as Russian advances into Sumy Oblast have continued to gain momentum.

The situation along the border in the Sumy region remains tense but under control, according to Ukraine's Defense Forces and Armed Forces units. There is currently no reason for evacuating the city of Sumy,

The advance towards the city of Sumy - the administrative center of the Sumy region - comes as Kyiv showed its ability to continue fighting by conducting a series of strikes in recent days, hitting Russian strategic bombers and the Crimean Bridge.
