Nearly 4,000 homes remain without power in the aftermath of Storm Floris. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said it had restored supplies to more than 68,000 homes but that 3,900 remained cut off. Ongoing disruption on railway lines between Inverness and Aberdeen is expected to be cleared by 14:00.

Thousands of customers have spent a second night without power after Storm Floris swept in on Monday. Tens of thousands of people were left without power after high winds earlier in the week, which reached speeds of up to 90mph.

The brutal weather system brought winds of up to 90mph, leaving tens of thousands of homes in the dark and causing chaos across the power network.
