CVS Pharmacy said that it has agreed to acquire the prescription files of 625 Rite Aid pharmacies across 15 states in areas that CVS serves, as well as acquire and operate 64 Rite Aid stores in Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Giant Eagle has agreed to buy the prescription files of 78 Rite Aid pharmacies in Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Nearly 600 Rite Aid locations have been identified for closure since the chain filed for its second bankruptcy last month.

Rite Aid, the retail pharmacy chain that filed for its second bankruptcy in as many years in May, has identified more than 300 locations for closure.
