SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) — The father of a 20-year-old University of Pittsburgh student Sudiksha Konanki, who went missing in the popular Dominican Republic tourist town of Punta Cana while on spring break with friends, said he has asked authorities to widen their investigation.

A University of Pittsburgh student went missing after traveling to the Dominican Republic. The student was identified as Sudiksha Konanki, 20, from Virginia. Dominican Republic authorities say Konanki went missing while "walking on a beach.

Investigators are asking for a worldwide police alert to be issued in the ongoing search for a University of Pittsburgh student who went missing while on a spring break trip to the Dominican Republic with her friends.
