The U.S. government has given artificial intelligence giants Nvidia and AMD the green light to sell some chips to China in exchange for a 15% cut of the revenue. Technology journalist Jacob Ward joins CBS News to dig into the deal and some of the other top AI stories.

Nvidia and AMD agreed to pay the U.S. government 15% of its revenue from the sale of a certain chips to China. Is that legal?

U.S. President Donald Trump upended decades of U.S. national security policy, creating an entirely new category of corporate risk, when he made a deal with Nvidia to give the U.S. government a cut of its sales in exchange for resuming exports of banned AI chips to China.
