Nancy Leonard, ‘First Lady’ of the Pacers, dies at 93

With a deficit of about 2,200 season tickets, Nancy Leonard, assistant general manager and wife of then-coach Bobby “Slick” Leonard, came up with an idea to host a telethon to raise the money. The “Save The Pacers” telethon surpassed its goal on July 4, 1977, and the rest is history.
