TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) — Chaos unfolded at a Walmart in Michigan after a man burst into the store during a calm shopping afternoon and stabbed 11 people at random, authorities say. The attack on Saturday left six victims in critical condition and a suspect in custody.
Dramatic video shows a heroic Walmart shopper armed with a gun confronting a knife-wielding maniac moments after he allegedly stabbed 11 people inside the Michigan store on Saturday night.
"I'm still sitting and grappling with the weight of realizing that it was kind of a life-or-death moment," said Julia Martell, who witnessed the stabbing, which wounded 11 people.
Authorities said a man accused of entering a Walmart in Michigan and randomly stabbing 11 shoppers before being detained by several bystanders is expected to face terrorism and assault charges.
Police have not yet released the identity of the attacker or a possible motive behind the horrific incident, but noted that the suspect appears to be a resident of Michigan.
