Former actor Mamta Kulkarni was appointed as Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhara. She has since been expelled. After her expulsion, Mamta opened up about her financial struggles.

The Akhil Bharatiya Kinnar Akhara is the 14th akhara at the Maha Kumbh. The 13 akharas are divided into three groups -- Sanyasi (Shaivite), Bairagi (Vaishnav) and Udaseen.
