Following Hurricane Erin, Hurricane Gabrielle has the potential to be the next storm homeowners need to prepare for.
As of Wednesday evening, Hurricane Gabrielle is a Category 2 storm about 900 miles west of the Azores. Gabrielle has sustained winds of 100 mph, moving east at 29 mph. Gabrielle is expected to still be a hurricane as it passes near the Azores late Thursday into Friday and a Hurricane Warning is in effect for all of the Azores.
Hurricane Gabrielle was expected to continue rapidly moving toward the Azores in the Atlantic on Wednesday, where the government has upgraded a hurricane watch to a warning.
Hurricane Gabrielle is weakening as it approaches the Azores, but the storm is still set to bring heavy rain and damaging winds when it hits the islands later on Thursday.
