The tough blows continue to fall for the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Monday, All-Star third baseman Eugenio Suárez exited a 5-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers in the ninth inning after taking another pitch off the hand. Suárez was in clear pain after being hit on what appeared to be the right index finger by the 96 MPH fastball.

It may not cost Shaw in a deal, but if it does, the Cubs should have a lot more to think about than making a knee-jerk move to swap third basemen with the Diamondbacks. Shaw is a solid defensive player for the Cubs. Suarez is having an outstanding season offensively, but is it worth giving up on Shaw defensively?

Moncada is nursing a right hand contusion after he was knocked out of Saturday's 7-2 loss when he was struck by a pitch. Fortunately for Moncada, X-rays came back negative, so the Angels are optimistic that he'll be able to return to the lineup after getting at least one day off. Kevin Newman will spell Moncada at third base Sunday.
