Community organizers say at least 35 people were arrested as federal immigration agents swept through Ventura County farms and packinghouses this week.

One person died in a boating incident at Lake San Antonio on Friday, Monterey County spokesperson Maia Carroll confirmed to The Tribune. The incident involved one boat and resulted in multiple injuries, Carrol said in an email. Emergency responders were onsite as of 2:18 p.m. and an investigation was underway, the email said.

Representative Salud Carbajal blasted the operations of the past week, calling them "completely unjustified” and “deeply harmful.”

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has reportedly been active in the Central Coast and the San Joaquin Valley, particularly in agricultural areas with farm fields and packinghouses, like Tulare, Fresno and Ventura counties.
