BMW plans to absorb the cost of Trump's tariffs on the M2, 2-series coupe, and 3-series sedan—but only for a short time.

Tariffs imposed by the Trump administration threaten to increase the cost of vehicles built both here and elsewhere — but the impacts won't be immediately felt on two of BMW's best-selling models, as the carmaker has promised it will “price-protect” its Mexican-built cars until May 1.

German automaker BMW is telling dealers in the U.S. it will absorb the added cost of new tariffs on its imports from Mexico, at least for the next several weeks, a spokesperson for the company said on Wednesday.

However, there’s a bit of good news as The Wall Street Journal is reporting that BMW has told U.S. dealers it will absorb tariffs on Mexican-made vehicles. The company will reportedly do this for at least the “next several weeks,” which could save buyers thousands of dollars.

BMW is shielding U.S.dealers and consumers from the financial impact of new tariffs on its Mexico-built models, at least for now.

BMW announced it would price protect its Mexican-built models like the 3 Series, 2 Series Coupe and M2 from potential 25 percent tariffs.

Both the 2 Series and 3 Series are built at BMW’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico, then sold here in the U.S. The 2 Series sees every version of it built at that plant, including the M2. However, the 3 Series is also built in Europe,
