According to Kill Devil Hills Police, just after 2 p.m. Thursday, Zane Hughes of Colington Island was found shot dead at the Avalon Fishing Pier in the Outer Banks.

One person died in a shooting at Avalon Fishing Pier in Kill Devil Hills. Another was airlifted to a Norfolk hospital.
