In a year where Democrats are trying to rebuild after losing the presidential race, Arizona's state party has been embroiled in internal disputes.

Following months of infighting and controversy, Arizona Democrats voted Wednesday evening to oust the state party’s chair. By a margin of 89%, Democratic Party members from across the state elected to remove Robert Branscomb a mere six months after he won a landslide victory to lead the party.

The election to replace the late Rep. Raúl Grijalva is ultimately expected to send a Democrat to Capitol Hill, putting pressure on House GOP leaders.
