A giant downtown mural of Willie Nelson is no more after the building was torn down to make way for a new high-rise development.

The Willie Nelson mural that sits at 406 E. 7th St. is being demolished after the building that hosted the mural was damaged in a fire last year.

A nearly decade-old Willie Nelson mural is being torn down in Austin as part of a demolition project. Back in February 2024, the Austin Fire Department responded to a fire at 407 E. 7th Street, an abandoned building that formerly housed the Mug Shots bar.
