WAUKEE, Iowa — A first-of-its-kind affordable housing neighborhood is in the works in the Des Moines metro, and potential homebuyers are already on a waiting list of one hundred names deep.

Waukee's student enrollment is projected to hit 15,300 by 2027, an increase of 2,600 from the 2022/23 school year. Chris Higgins covers the eastern suburbs for the Register.
