After failing to land the big catch last year, lawmakers have cast their line again to hook the walleye as the state fish. Here's the latest effort.

Walleye Weekend returns to Fond du Lac June 6-8, featuring fishing tournaments, live music and family activities. New events include a chalk art contest, animal races and trackless train rides.

Spence has another reputation, too. He’s the reigning state record-holder in Montana with a 16.63-pound walleye that he caught through the ice on Fort Peck Reservoir back on Jan. 21, 2000.
