His journey is now the subject of a new documentary, Finding True North, premiering this Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the ʻAlohilani Resort Waikiki Beach. It’s free and open to the public.

Southwest Airlines and the Waikiki Improvement Association partnered together to bring the “Sunset on the Beach” event back to Queen’s Beach this summer.

The late co-founder of TS Restaurants, Rob Thibaut, had the vision for the weekly event that would include Diamond Head, Waikiki Beach, people surfing in the background and Henry Kapono on stage.

It then created a "Sunset Score" for 100 locations to normalize the data. After looking at all that information, it named Waikiki in Hawaii the most beautiful place for a sunset in the U.S.
