Suddenly, the road to a fifth straight NCAA softball title for Oklahoma got steeper. The No. 2-seeded Sooners were defeated 4-2 by No. 6 Texas on Saturday in a matchup of two of the top teams in the country.

UCLA dominated the series and had won 10 of 11 meetings prior to this season. Oregon won the season series for the first time since 2018. In postseason play, UCLA defeated Oregon 7-1 at the 2015 WCWS and won a 2016 Super Regional vs. UO.

Tennessee softball will face No. 9 seed UCLA in another elimination game at the Women's College World Series on June 1 in Oklahoma City.
