The Thai-spec Toyota Yaris retains the naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine of its predecessor, producing 91 hp (68 kW / 92 PS) and 109 Nm (80 lb-ft) of torque.

Toyota has halted sales of the Yaris Ativ in Thailand after it was revealed that Daihatsu had rigged part of the side-collision safety tests performed on the vehicle.

Toyota affiliate Daihatsu had rigged part of the door in side-collision safety tests for some 88,000 small cars, most of which were sold under the Toyota brand, the companies said last week.

The Yaris is Toyota’s top-selling vehicle in the UK, accounting for over 20% of sales last year. It’s also its second best seller in Europe. So, an EV version will be key over the next few years.
