The Town Council voted at its regular meeting Sept. 21 to approve the temporary use of signs and outdoor displays. Town code had previously prohibited the use of A-frame signs.
Two signs were taken from the A377, one by Queen Elizabeth's Drive and the second from the town entrance from Exeter. The third was stolen from the A3072 entering the town from Tiverton.
The town council has earmarked a number of areas across the town for the two-metre (6ft) high signs. Flourishing Barnstaple aims to establish Barnstaple as a cultural centre of northern Devon.
