NEW YORK >> Americans are increasingly raising a glass of sake. Exports of the drink to the country reached $78.6 million last year, three times the figure from 10 years ago.

Sake elevates the humble chicken into something company worthy. Ginger, scallions and salt round out the seasonings. Everything’s baked in a covered casserole dish for about an hour.

Starting Thursday, November 10, Chika & Sake (1700 Laguna Street in San Francisco) will be open from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations can be made on OpenTable.
