ISLAND BEACH STATE PARK — Sewer line blockages prompted state park officials to limit the number of visitors allowed into Island Beach State Park on July 6, according to New Jersey officials.

“No swimming” signs are in place at Lake Marcia at High Point State Park, a beach that ordinarily attracts crowds on summer weekends. Though swimming is banned, the beach is still open.

Fire chiefs from the Beach Park, Zion and Winthrop Harbor fire departments held a news conference Monday highlighting the increase in water incidents in recent years.
