AP Top 25 college football preseason poll ranks Texas No. 1

Texas (No. 1), SMU (No. 16), Oklahoma (No. 18), Texas A&M (No. 19) and Texas Tech (No. 23) all earned spots in the top 25, while Baylor and TCU also received votes. The first regular season poll won’t be released until Sept. 2. Here are five takeaways from the initial rankings this year:
