Freeze dried candy has been around since the '50s, offering a sweet treat for our astronauts while in space. More recently, it’s becoming a lot more popular here on Earth.

On Oct. 15, Mars Wrigley revealed Skittles Pop’d: a freeze-dried twist on the classic fruity candies. Previously, freeze-dried Skittles were only available through third-party brands.

Each 5.5-oz. package includes sour lemonade, sour blue raspberry, sour strawberry, sour watermelon and sour cherry. PEOPLE staffers got to try the new candies before the release.
