No band has been cut down in their prime so suddenly, and so horrifically, as Lynyrd Skynyrd. Having risen from humble origins in Jacksonville, Florida, Skynyrd had become major stars by the mid-70s.
The band's frontman admits they didn't know it would be the last surviving founding bandmember's final show, but that it was a "special" and "fun" experience that they're so glad fans get to witness.
The group was a precursor to Lynyrd Skynyrd. He was among the survivors of the plane crash that killed much of the band in 1977, later leading the re-invented group into the 21st century.
