Matthew Mire, who murdered a Louisiana State Police trooper and a Prairieville woman in 2021, was sentenced in Ascension Parish to two life sentences.

City and state police, alongside U.S. Marshals, were on the scene Wednesday following a brief standoff in Jeannette that led to the arrest of a man who had violated his parole.

"A Pennsylvania State Parole Agent discharged a department issued pistol at an identified male who succumbed to his injuries," the state police said.
