A pedestrian was fatally hit by a car Wednesday morning in the Antelope area of Sacramento County, officials said.

California Highway Patrol was dispatched around 7:39 a.m. to eastbound Highway 16 at the on-ramp for southbound Interstate 505.

Crews have largely extinguished a vegetation fire that prompted evacuations in El Dorado County and burned multiple vehicles.
