Martin cited a July 7 incident, when National Guard members and federal agents descended upon L.A.’s MacArthur Park, making no arrests but forcing a children’s summer camp to evacuate the area.

Officials with the South Park Township Recreation Department say the day camp will stay closed through the week out of an abundance of caution and reopen Monday.

With immigration operations happening across the region, a South L.A. camp for children with special needs is continuing its run with a “sobering backdrop” — and fewer campers, organizers said.
