Sonic Mania Adventures is slated to release five episodes in total. No word on when the next will be, but we can only imagine what trouble that little blue goof will get into next time.

So as you know, Sonic Mania the game is all about nostalgia, if you will. It’s recreating the old side-scroll platform game. So I wanted to make something to speak to that.

And for Nintendo and Sega, it was actually serious business. Nintendo controlled north of 90% of the video game market before Sega — and a speedy blue cartoon hedgehog named Sonic — showed up.

Notice too another nod to Sonic Mania ‘s place in the franchise. The clock-like dial that shows up briefly at the start of the animation goes from 1 to 2 to 3, and then on to K and M.

For me, Sonic Mania is ticking all the right boxes and I look forward to finally getting my hands on the game in the near future. Sonic Mania is released for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC on August 15.
