A turtle on the runway caused a plane crash near Sugar Valley Airport in Mocksville, NC. Two died, one injured, per NTSB’s preliminary report.
The plane crashed into a utility pole on Sam Fonzo Drive, near Beverly Regional Airport, just before 9 a.m., officials said in a news conference.
"It felt like the plane came to a standstill (in the air) for 5 to 10 seconds," 40-year-old Viswash Kumar Ramesh said. He was in seat 11A when the Air India flight crashed.
Viswashkumar Ramesh was on his way home to London when tragedy struck. In hospital interviews, he explains how he made his way out of seat 11A — which isn't typically the safest part of the plane.
As Air India Flight AI171 fell from the sky early Thursday, Vishwaskumar Ramesh, a passenger tucked in the first row of economy class, was preparing to meet his maker.
