On Wednesday, June 25, Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl and Miller's Smorgasbord in Ronks were announced as the No. 1 and No. 2 winners, respectively, of the nationwide reader survey.

In 2024, Shady Maple rose from a former No. 4 ranking to take the top spot, while Miller's stayed at No. 3. The two eateries are among 18 buffet restaurants competing.

To get everything going, the cooks start prep at 4 AM. “We’ll go through about 700 to 750 pounds of bacon,” said Sumer Smith, Food Quality Manager at Shady Maple.
