Following the death of his father the Aga Khan IV, Prince Rahim Al-Hussaini has been announced as the new Aga Khan—the spiritual leader of the world’s Ismaili Muslims, a branch of Shia Islam. He was designated as Aga Khan V in his father’s will,

“Prince Rahim Aga Khan V is the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, as designated by his late father, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, in accordance with historical Shia Imami Ismaili tradition,” read a communique from the Diwan of the Ismaili Imamat.

Hussaini, the new spiritual leader of Ismaili Muslims, was named as the successor to his father, who died at 88.
