Police have warned that Preston New Road near Mellor is closed between Branch Road and Mire Ash Brow. Officers are expecting the road to be closed "for some time" whilst the situation is assessed.

An appeal has been launched over an attempted burglary in Blackburn. At around 1.50pm today (Thursday, March 13), an unknown offender entered the rear of an address on Preston Old Road.
