The wing of a Delta plane struck the runway as it was landing at LaGuardia Airport on Sunday evening, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

In a statement, airport bosses said the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) and the Civil Aviation Authority were notified of the incident. Gloucestershire Airport said: "The Gloucestershire Airport Emergency Plan was immediately activated and attendance by local authority emergency services was requested."
